Did Notre Dame's Blowout Loss To Miami Expose Georgia As Overrated?

If we're going to ask this question, there's a hell of a lot of teams in the top 25 overrated.

Maybe overrated at #1, I suppose. They are still damn good team that is easily top 10 worthy, possibly top 5
This is exactly why I like a playoff (and even a playoff committee) instead of a poll. They actually have to play well enough to get in and then decide it on the field by beating others deemed "worthy"...even if some end up not as worthy as perceived.

Save your breath the little Husker is making another troll thread because I hurt his feelings. Typical insecurity move by their fan base. They'll start following me around and trashing Auburn in 1..2..3...

Nah, 'Bama will do that...

Honestly...(not that anybody is worrying about that in this thread) but Honestly, don't we need
to have the results of a few games before we start calling folks overrated?

Everybody is gonna play flat at one time or another. Everybody is gonna read the sports page
too much. Everybody is gonna believe all they have to do is toss their helmets on the field, at least
once.

When teams beat up the weak and get beat up by the good but they are ranked...those are overrated
teams.

Having a bad game doesn't mean you're overrated. (Unless of course, you are engaged in a debate
on a message board..."your team is more overrated than my team.")

I don't think so. While both of them lost pretty badly, stuff like that happens when good teams play each other. Sometimes the momentum of shit rolling downhill turns into a shit avalanche...and they both got caught in one.

road games can be pretty tough, especially at Notre Dame and Auburn.

Don't think they're that over rated. Over-rated as a 1 seed but as a top 10 team Georgia is there for sure.

No way are they actually top 5. I think they're on their way, but they're not good enough in the trenches and are too one dimensional to compete against the tip-top teams just yet. I'd say they're like #12 or so. They're really good, and seem to be getting better, especially with Justin Fields coming in, along with another top running back and possibly two five star lineman. I believe they will be a legitimate playoff team in a year or two, but they're just a good team right now. It is funny though, we're splitting the top two quarterbacks with them for next year, but i personally think Fields fits into our scheme better, and that Trevor Lawrence fits into theirs.

But yeah, I think Notre Dame's getting dominated as well as Auburn crushing Georgia showed that they were overrated at 1, especially considering ESPN was putting them as better than Bama. That said, Auburn is a great team, with one of the best defensive lines in the country. Richt has Miami extremely focused and they're playing with a chip on their shoulder. So while they might not be #1 quality, it doesn't mean they're not a very good team.

I'm pretty much the only UGA fan that regularly posts here, and basically all season I've told you fuckers that Georgia was a good team, but not a great team or playoff team, and you sons of bitches wouldn't listen.

Last year's team had way too many holes to fix in one season.

I told yall the secondary was very suspect.

I told yall the o-line was undersized and not very talented. They're well coached and they play hard, but that doesn't work against elite defensive fronts.

The program is headed in the right direction, but we ain't there yet.

We overachieved a little bit and the competition made us look better than we were.

Auburn was a better team than I thought they were, I figured it would be Bama that exposed us, but it's just the same. I knew it was coming, just came from a different opponent than I thought.

We're probably legitimately a fringe top 10 team this season. I expect marked improvement next season just like this season is a marked improvement from last season.

I know Mark Richt always pulled in top 10 classes, but much like Jimbo Fisher, he seemed to ignore the o-line in recruiting in his later years.

There's a lot of young talent on the team, and another likely top 5 class coming in for 2018. I didn't enjoy Saturday afternoon, but for the first time in a long time, I feel like we're making strides as a program.

We 'gun damage your colon next fine season.

Maybe it is a simple as a good team having a bad day against a good team having a good day. Everyone thinks everything is supposed to happen the way it looks on paper. Guess what? These teams are full of humans, young adults who are trying their best. One team gets momentum behind them and doesn’t lose it, it becomes a blow-out.

I don't remember if I asked you this before that game but who were you rooting for? I was rooting for The U.

Neither ... I kinda like disliking both teams ... I was sad to see Georgia get beat out ... for some reason I like a lot of the SEC teams; Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and LSU. Clemson and North Carolina from the ACC. Texas and Oklahoma from the Big XII and Stanford and Utah from the PAC 12. There is only one team I hate :dhd:

Well get ready to hate them a little more on 11/25. Hopefully Ohio State leaves ann arbor w/ another W. The game always makes me a little nervous though. And this year's no different.

12? Really? What 11 teams are better than Georgia?

That was an estimate, but I think Georgia is where we were a few years ago. Tons of skill players, not as talented in the trenches. I'd say Bama and Auburn in the SEC, Clemson and Miami in the ACC, Oklahoma and TCU in the Big 12, Wisconsin and OSU in the Big 10 (at least when Ohio State is on point, they're wildly inconsistent), I think Notre Dame and Georgia are very, very close this year, and UCF has looked good against their terrible competition, so that might be a good game. So they're on the cusp of the top 10, and they might be anywhere from 9 - 11.
