Anyone buying (or have bought) this game?

Looks pretty fun from the videos but it seems it's largely play to win. My only concern with that is if it's majorly pay to win then casuals are just not going to play... and you need casuals to have a vibrant community and popular game.

Don't. Fuck EA right in the pussy.

How the fuck you charge me $60 for a game as a cover charge so I can go in and give you more money in microtransactions to buy characters that I should already have access to?

It would be one thing if it was a F2P game, and then have microtransactions. But it's not.

I haven't pirated a game in many years, but I'll do it with this one on principle.

This is why EA bought the Titanfall dev's. Can't have a game like that that shows how to do a game right making EA's other titles look bad.

Fuck what a jew grab this game is. Looks amazing but as the guy above me said, the microtransactions are terrible. At one point it was pay-to-win, but I think EA reworked them after lots of complaints.

First one was fun, but I payed 60 bucks for an incomplete game.

Same as with Destiny, the bridge has already been burned, they aint getting my cash money

I've already vowed to never pay full launch price for an EA game ever again.

If you can offline splitscreen this game, I might buy it when it drops under $40. I'm not touching the online play - ever.

The only way this pay-to-win micro-transactions game methodology dies out is if sheeple stop feeding at that poisoned trough.

Thanks folks. I'll be holding off indefinitely from purchasing after reading Reddit, etc. Sounds like this game has MAJOR negative reviews from the get go on the micro transactions and content walls. 40+ hours to unlock a hero that should be available from the start.

I'm right there with you but its not just EA.

Overwatch is basically a Free to Play game that they got people to spend $60 on the console version and it has season passes and loot boxes on top of being the 2nd most sold PC game of all time and critics everywhere showered it with praise and GOTY awards.

It and Call of Duty are far and away the biggest videogames right now as far as I can tell and they both have one thing in common: loot boxes.

Its been normalized. Every game company is putting in loot boxes now because we're at the point in time in this generation of video games where everyone has been able to collect data, look at the landscape and create the best products of this generation. In the past, usually that would be the best video games of this generation. Now its the most lucrative way to keep people addicted.

If a crash of sales is coming then its not coming this year. I think the phenomenon is too new. I'm in shock, to be honest. Its in everything all of sudden and its shameless.

I don't have Overwatch, but from what I understand from the free weekends I have played, the characters are all unlocked, and all the abilities are there. But the loot boxes give you skins, emotes, sprays and other stuff that doesn't directly affect gameplay.

You get the full game, just not the extra art. I'm not that perturbed over that. It does help support legitimate continued development. The game gets regular additions of new characters and maps for no extra cost.

And I'm pretty sure there is no Season Pass for Overwatch, either.

This is true but I was watching a video that pointed out that the number of games with loot boxes before Overwatch were few and far between and then all of a sudden they are normalized and everywhere. The other game at the time was GTA Online that was big on microtransactions. I dont suspect Destiny's microtransactions were popular but I could be wrong.

I guess my bigger point is that pretty make everyone was Ubisoft to Activision to EA to Sega to Take Two has them now and they are using them for everything.

Eh confession... I just bought the deluxe version anyway.

I just want to play a Star Wars game and I like the first person shooter thing. Really don't care, lol. Game looks great.

RIP $80, it really doesn't matter at this point anyway, $80 isn't really an issue for me. Guess I forfeit a share of Duke Energy. Regardless it's cheaper than taking a chick out.

So many transaction based games these days.. NBA 2K series, Madden, Hearthstone, HOTS, Starcraft (basically any Blizz game), Skyrim (DLC), LOL (learning heroes, etc.)...

Shielding up with incoming facepalms. EA just lowered the micro transactions on hero a ton anyway and no surprise... I bought the deluxe before they even announced it.

:peep:

Trip Hawkins and Bill Budge would be rolling over in their graves. If they were dead that is.

I own a Switch. Amazing console. I spent $500 on the system + Zelda/Mario-Rabbids and the insurance policy from BBY a few months ago. Great games, AMAZING portable system (plane rides FLY by), and there's several games that are great.

Rabbids is amazing and I've heard Mario Odyssey is potential GOTY.

Also, get Thumper. It's $15-20 or so and a fantastic adrenaline rush game.

I'm probably just going to buy this day 1.

I thought the first next gen BF had potential but was just not a deep game at all. This one looks like it gives you a bit more to do. Plus, you know, Star Wars.

Nope. Fuck EA. More and more people need to outright rebel so we can reign in this loot box/microtransaction bullshit. We aren't even getting complete games anymore because DERPs keep ponying up cash

I've never really boycotted EA but I never buy any of their games because they've been putting minimal effort into their games for years now. The model they created for the NFL ruined football games for me and this lootbox thing is turning games into gambling.

I played the open beta and loved it. Then I preordered the game.

EA has responded twice since then to improve the loot boxes and microtransactions. That being said, I’m casual enough to where I don’t mind them anyway. In fact, I like the excitement to see what will be in a loot box. There will always be people better than me at video games, and I’m ok with that.

Just wish I could play it now. Microsoft sent me an in console message that I can download, but there is nothing that I can download.

I read that preorders can start playing today, but xbox tells me it’s available at 10pm this Friday.

There is EA early access, but I’m not going to pay for that crap.

EA has removed the refund button from their customer portal forcing people to call their customer service line that has at minimum an hour wait, hoping people wouldn’t want to wait.

Fuck EA and everyone that buys their products.
