Josh Collmentor from Homer, Mi. Stunk last year with Atl. Free agent now. Tigers need to invite him to spring training. Add some local flavor. :)

There is very little MLB worthy talent until we get down to AA. The Buck Farmers of the world don't disappoint because of coaching. They just make it to the majors because of what organization theyre employed by.

After Candelario, I think the most promising players we got in all the trades are 18 and 19 years old (Paredes and Perez). Gonna be a while.

And our closest homegrown prospects are Burrows and Stewart. Whoboth ended the season in AA.

But I really do think Stewartneeds to have a shot in ST. Hesdoing okay in the fall league right now.

Knowing that Castellanos will be in RF (LF?), the only two holdovers I see from 2017 are Mahtook and maybe Presley. (I've seen enough of JaCoby Jones) Perhaps Tigers go out and find an experienced outfielder, one that could handle CF and then keep their fingers crossed that Gerber or Stewart is ready sooner rather than later.

I think Presley deserves a shot at making the team.

And I'm with ya on Jones. He can't hit.(he'd be who I'd replace with Stewart.)

I have no issue with Mahtook being around for awhile. He's never going to be great but he's a nice ballplayer.

You need a true CFer and Stewart is as bad as Castellanos.

Mets are "considering" Brad Ausmus to fill managerial roll.

Word is - Detroit would like to hire someone with major league managerial experience. With the team they have, I'm not sure how many experienced managers would want the job?

I think Ausmus could become a good manager....but to jump into the New York media market, could be a bad move for him. If he thought Detroit fans and media were rough.........

WHO?

From MLB Trade Rumors:
"Royals catching instructor Pedro Grifol is an early candidate to become the Tigers’ next manager, Jon Morosi of MLB Network tweets. Grifol has served in that position since 2014. He also has experience as a major league hitting coach (Royals, 2013-14) and a minor league manager (with low-level Mariners affiliates from 2003-05 and in 2012)"

Verlander is scheduled for game #2 against the Yankees this weekend. He has not been "razor sharp" but is 2-0.

3.12 ERA in high stress games is pretty good. I'm sure Corey Kluber would have taken that in his team's series. Or Chris Sale for that matter.

The casual baseball fan will be stunned if Kluber gets the Cy Young award. Most people don't know that post season records don't count and that votes were in before the post-season began.

I would like to see Verlander go against Kershaw.

Gave up a run as a reliever.

Pretty much lights out otherwise since the trade.

Great move by Houston. (And Detroit, even though it sucks.)

Should be a tight vote. I'd give CK the edge. But Sales K marks are kinda nuts.

JV finish third?

Yep, there is no point in carrying Verlander's or Upton's salaries on a team that is going to be absolute horseshit for at least a couple of seasons.

Still stuck with a couple of boat anchor salaries next season (V-mart and Zimmermann). Really hoping Miggy can come back to something approaching full strength. Herniated discs in the back are no small thing to overcome, though.
