I still think of Harbough as the other half of the handshake. Guy is definitely a prick.

But I don't think there are 5 coaches who are obviously better than him in the country. And any that are, are already entrenched where they are. Are you really ready to gamble an elite program to another unproven guy who looked good at a lower level? Again?

I can think of 30 that have accomplished more.

Hope ur right. Just can't see Harbaugh getting focused on the important things anytime soon.

I think Harbaugh is laser focused. The problem is that he has never stayed at one place very long. That has been my worry all along with Jim. I still LOVE having him in Ann Arbor, and am hoping he is here for a while, but for that to happen he has to change the direction of the rivalries between Ohio State and Michigan State. Right now, and going into 2018 it doesn't look good. That can change quickly with a few guys stepping up their game though.

If Harbaugh ends up jumping to the NFL, I'd love to see John Harbaugh leave the NFL and come to Michigan. I seriously doubt it would happen, but it would be GREAT transition. John seems a little more level headed, and also seems to like longevity at a place. Both of them seem to be really good coaches (John having much more success than Jim though).

I don't see it. Its like Rocky 3 when Rocky gets all caught up doing commercials, and TV stuff while Mr. T trains hard (like Rocky did in Rocky 1 and 2), then obliterates Rocky in 2 rounds. Not until Rocky refocuses on the sport does he defeat Mr. T. Same shit w Harbaugh and his rivals.

As for him never staying anywhere for very long - every job he took was a promotion. So I don't know if that factors in or not. Depends on if he thinks another NFL job is a better gig.

I don't believe that Harbaugh views Michigan State as a rivalry or at least has a difficult time pressing that upon the players. I can't find the quote but one player was recently quoted as saying they don't try as hard against Little Brother. Many Michigan fans try to say that "the Michigan game is Sparty's super bowl while it's just another game to us" as some sort of slight. Guess what, we are 8-3 in our Super Bowls while Michigan is what 1-11 in their game against Ohio state. I'd rather win 67% of our Super Bowls rather than 8%. Michigan players and fans need to put a little more focus into this game if they plan on righting it because MSU hasn't lost focus.

To be honest, I too thought that the Michigan State rivalry was now officially dead with Michigan's renewed recruiting domination. After it took one of the craziest plays in the history of the NCAA for MSU to beat Michigan in 2015, MSU's horrendous 2016 season, and losing early this season to ND, I figured that even on Michigan's worst days, that they would likely beat MSU from now on. Saturday was a shot to the gut, even though several blame the storm for the loss. Michigan was badly outplayed in the first half, and the offense was horrible for the entire game.

It is most definitely a rivalry game, and Dantonio may be the most dominate coach against Michigan in the history of the program (he definitely is in my lifetime).

I don't think Michigan will ever fire Harbaugh unless he totally bombs Rodriguez/Hoke style. The natives are definitely starting to get a little restless though. Harbaugh is much more likely to bolt back to the NFL before getting fired.

If he loses to Ohio State again (at home) there's going to be problems.

Accomplished more doesn't mean shit. It's all about moving forward, and if you think there are 30 coaches that would give that program a better chance going forward than Harbaugh then I think you are being completely disingenuous.

Coming off a bye week Michigan should have been better prepared, but people need to realize that Michigan State is good as well. Michigan State fans have to realize they will never be the rival that ohio state is to Michigan. That said ... nice game!!!

I am under no illusions that we are or should be as big of a rival as Ohio State is to Michigan. It's the Michigan fans that want to pretend that a team that has gone twice without playing for 35 years is a bigger rival or that want to lie to themselves that Michigan state is not a rival at all.

We are rivals, I don't deny that and I don't deny victories, but after an ohio state loss, I am angry for a week.

Yes. It's about " moving forward". It's also about "accomplishing" something of substance like I told you.
There's A LOT more "moving forward" for Harbaugh to do to "accomplish" what AT LEAST 30 other active coaches have accomplished. Until then, he's just another average coach at best.

This may be true, but a big part of why he doesn't stay anywhere too long is because he wears people out. From what I've read, every place he left was ready for him to leave when he did. This apparently, was especially true with the 49ers.

It's not necessarily a bad thing either because he also wins everywhere he goes. He's basically like the football version of Phil Jackson. Wins everywhere he goes (as a coach anyway), but it always ends badly and folks are stepping over each other to hold the door open for him (and lock it behind him) when he leaves.

:dingdingding:

Right now, Harbaugh thinks our president is a bigger rival than Dantonio and MSU. And the players are sitting around waiting for him to coach football.

IMO, if you ask the players, they will tell you they are sitting around at all. Harbaugh IS coaching football.
