The offense is slumping, lots of moving parts due to injury, but I did say that the Dodgers were good enough to continue winning even if they let up on the gas in September. They haven't been doing that so far. The Dbacks are pounding the Dodgers but the Padres did too so I don't think it's unreasonable to think the Dodgers are just bad right now.

this too, they're not going to play 1-9 ball forever. Gonzalez looks pretty toasty though.

It's surprising. Gonzalez is a guy who had never even gone on the DL in his entire career until this year.

Exactly what the D-Backs are doing tonight.

3 HRs for JD and 14 K's for Ray. D-Backs are about to move to 9-8 vs the Dodgers this year. A best of 5 series between these 2 would be very interesting

Robbie just got me 50 fantasy points...and I have Greinke, Godley and Corbin to go.....

I remember he had shoulder surgery before the 2011 season. He was great in his first season (155 OPS+ and 6.9 WAR), but he did have his fewest home runs (27) since his first full season in 2006 (24) and his power production was pretty streaky. He's been productive in LA, but he hasn't been an elite hitter since the 2011 season.

A year or two ago I would have disagreed but it's pretty clear now that Bellinger is here to stay and he plays great defense at 1st. His ability to play the outfield is just a huge plus. Gonzalez is still good but not the elite slugger he once was.

If the Dbacks as a team want to believe that they'll see guys like Ethier, Ryu, and Maeda starting games in the playoffs then more power to them. But I understand that when a team is finally having a good year after years of disappointment, you kind of need something to be positive about.

That one win came on a gem effortlessly tossed by Kershaw. Kershaw came back from injury better than I've seen all season. Greinke was the same guy Dbacks fans shat on when he lost the deciding game against the Mets during the best year of his career. This is the guy that is supposed to strike fear into the Dodgers. I don't mean to come off as smug but people seem to think I should be worried as a Dodgers fan. Forgive me if I'm not at this moment.

I'm not saying you should be worried, I agree that the Dodgers aren't at full health. But I do think they're beatable in the postseason, but that's because there's so much that can happen in 3-7 games of baseball. I still consider the Dodgers the best team in the NL. The D-Backs are the only team remotely close to them in the pitching department, but the Dodgers lineup is a lot better (and deeper). Nats have a good 1-2-3, but Gio's 2017 seems a bit flukey (2.58 ERA, but his FIP is 3.89 and his xFIP is 4.26) and the back end of the rotation is questionable.

Dodgers lineup being "a lot better" and deeper is very debatable since JD's arrival.

I disagree, but we'll see. It's more about the Dodgers being bad right now rather than the Dbacks being good.

Hilarious that you can't even give them credit while they're riding a 12 game win streak. Is LA playing good ball? Absolutely not, but the Dbacks hot streak is not related to the Doyers struggles, they swept SF in a 4 game series which isn't easy to do no matter how bad they've been, then went into Coors and shut the Rockies offense down. Things are clicking for them and LA is in a slump, they're not mutually exclusive, lol. The rotation has been on fire.

Diamondbacks: 92 OPS+
Dodgers: 103 OPS+

Arizona has more runs, but they also play in a hitters park whereas LA favors pitchers. Not to mention the Dodgers just have a deeper bench (their backup catcher Barnes has a 132 OPS+ in 209 PA, they have several guys that can play all over the diamond (Taylor, Hernandez, Forsythe).

Martinez was a nice haul for the D-Backs to make a run, but the lineup just isn't that impressive. Not to mention there's a huge gap in their home/away splits (.273/.349/.492 at home vs .235/.309/.397 on the road).

I'm well aware of the season #'s and splits. I'm strictly talking about since JD's arrival, and now with Pollock back from top to bottom Arizona has one of the best lineups in baseball. Their bench may not be great, but part of that is due to the bench guys being forced into more regular roles with Chris Owings and Nick Ahmed's injuries.

lol no

he was one of the best hitters in the league for three years, but many first basemen have done that. Going by WAR, he's at 42.7. Very solid career, but nowhere near the mark of 60 WAR that is generally used as the dividing line for HOFers. He's only had two seasons where he was in the top 10 (2009 and 2011). His career OPS+ of 130 ranks 167th all-time which is very good, but not great for a 1B.

I can't speak for Dodgers fans but I'm not. It's the same thing every year, the Dbacks end up not even in the conversation. The NL is up to the Nats and Dodgers.

Good things come to an end. Blue keeps losing and you guys start losing to the freaking Pads!! Your rotation on fire has had some water thrown on it. Good luck tho. I am envious of your lineup, what with their HR power. Wow, just wow.
