Yet I rarely zoom about in the S55. Certainly not in a devil may care fashion. I'm much more racy in my S4.

But I see too many vehicles on our logging roads. ATVs, you on your dirt bike (?), logging trucks, crummies, bears, deer, etc. Plus the dust making visibility poor.

Like I said, crop thinning.

And I guess I simply don't get trucks. For anything other than a working vehicle.
No...never had a dirt bike.
Street bike. Honda Interceptor. Too fast to keep living, at least the way I was learning to drive.

OK
It's happening.

Looks like 2 models. A crew cab 4 door and a 2 door super cab.

Won't initially have a diesel engine but 2 will more than likely be offered later.

2019 Ford Ranger – Is coming back to U.S.A

maybe it will grow on me.

Really like the looks of that 2dr supercab, but I'll probably be shopping the 4dr....2 kids, wife and a dog...

My neighbor just bought the new Honda pickup that looks a lot like this. Too bad Ford is always late to the party.

That's the rest-of-world Ranger....the next one for North America may look like it, but it will probably be different. Certainly has to be different due to the differences we have for crash/protection standards. They have been testing regular cab trucks as well....perfect for fleet sales....and if they have enough room behind the seats for groceries and whatnot (assuming they will produce them), I'll strongly think about getting one.

There are strong rumours that there willl be a Ranger Raptor.

The Ridgeline is an AWD vehicle...the Ranger is a 4WD. Ford has been 'late to the party' with Ranger and Bronco, but not as a whole. They were the only one of the big three that didn't take a bailout and had to maintain a certain process of building for profitability as opposed to pleasing everybody.

The vehicles that bring in the bucks for Ford (and GM and Chrysler) are the big trucks and SUV's. The new Ranger is 7/8 the size of an F150, and Ford feared they would cannabilize themselves. I'm glad that they are bringing back the Ranger and Bronco from a personal POV but I wonder how they will do in the market.

I know and agree about everything...and will never buy a GM again, ever. Did you hear Chrysler is about to get bought by the big Chinese firm?

Anyway, for me it's the drive. I'd have an F-150 already but really, really hate the floaty way they drive. I even had a Lincoln Blackwood for a few years and that weird thing drove great. The F-150 just feels SO disconnected from the road. It might just be me, but I feel like I'm riding on a train. My Ram 1500 didn't feel like that.

If the Ranger feels more like driving the new Explorer, which I'm guessing it will, I'll like it a lot more. We had an Explorer 2 years ago (wifey car) and really liked it on several levels. If the new Ranger drives more like the F150, I'll probably consider the Mercedes pickup when it comes.

I think this will be the ultimate problem.
Almost as big.
Almost as much.

Not enough difference.

They were super successful when they were a true "small truck".
Now, they'll have to really compete to survive.

As I said, I think Ford might be in a bind with the Ranger....they have to distinguish it considerably from the F truck. The old Rangers were awesome...bulletproof, and cheap - that won't be the case this time around. The size is just about set, and I think the ride will be similar to F150. The one thing I'm not sure about is if they will be aluminum.

I don't care much about the ride myself....I'd like to get a smaller truck, and like you, I'll never buy a GM product. I've had a few F's in the driveway and simply don't want or need a big truck. Hyundai just announced they are making a small truck based on the Santa Cruz concept??? I believe.

The one thing Ford has going for them is name cache. The new Ranger will be different but small truck buyers know 'Ranger.' The Canyon/Colorado are far superior to the Toyota Tacos, but sales wise you'd never know. It'll come down to how many 150's are lost to Ranger (and some Bronco) sales and if Ford is willing to lose there.

The Explorer is such a well done vehicle. Put a pickup bed on the back of it and...done.

A 7/8th size F-150 won't be cutting in for the fleet sales.
Won't be cheap enough.

Looks like Ford will just let Nissan and Toyota have/take that market.

Not sure why Ford just doesn't make a small pickup and then bring back the old F-100.
I bought a new 2006 F-150 STX which is really an F-100 with basic stuff/no power windows door locks, no carpet, 4.2 engine, with automatic tilt and cruise, that's it. It's bullet proof.

That Ranger Raptor would be a blast, but I'm just looking forward to a regular Ranger and see what they'll offer here sometime late next year. If they can deliver a version with 4WD auto along with 4H and 4L, I'll be really interested - regular or extended cab.

I'll be looking to see if they make a Ranger that's like an everyday work truck with a big engine regular cab with no frills.

Man, I've been wanting a new Ranger to be released for SO LONG. 2016 was supposed to be the year, but never saw it for sale. Now I'm seeing it will be out for 2017, and the pictures make me sad.

I guess the designers said "Hey, everyone thinks the Ridgeline looks like shit, let's copy it" :L

Base model to start around $20k MSRP

At least they hit it OUT OF THE FREAKING PARK with the Bronco

They even got the rear rocker panels correct for offroading. Base to begin around $29k. I'm thinking the demand will be so high that you won't find a 2017 model on the lot for less than $35k for a stripped down model. I want one. Want one really bad.
Ford was the only automobile manufacturer to not take bail outs or money from Obama 8 years ago. I have a 2004 king cab and automatic, with the big engine capable of towing - I am thinking about putting a new engine in it. Body is in excellent shape and right now even a used one sells for about 3500 and up. With a new engine, I wouldn't lose a dime if I decided to sell it - not one dime

PS I just bought the new Ford Taurus four door - sweet car.
