The time travel and rapid teleportation stuff is usually defended by the idea that "time passes off screen."

And we get that from Sam a bit, when he mentions its been years of Bran wandering north of the Wall.

And they did age that baby to about a 3year old kid all of a sudden, which suggests that Sam has been gone from the wall for a few years

So, HOW FUCKING SLOW ARE THE DAMN WHITE WALKERS walking?

It seems to have taken them months to walk each 100 feet, if you subscribe to the fast movement off-screen theory.

They dont rest. They dont camp. They are always marching.

They should either be in fucking Southern Dorne by now, or at the very least piled right up against the wall if that is somehow still an effective barrier.

Freaking Turtles march faster it seems.

As far as I can tell, the only thing slowing them down is the script....

They haven't been on a straight march to the wall all this time.
I think they have been going around scouring the northlands of any remaining people and creatures to add to their army. It's why the Wildlings wanted to get south of the wall so bad.

Last time we saw them, they had Giants. We didn't see Giants in their army before that.

Also, they need to have a way around or through the wall. The whole purpose (originally) of the wall is that it is an effective white walker/wight barrier. So the Night King needs something effective to actually defeat that. maybe he has it now.

Because nobody would believe that. It's got to be 'living' dead.
Exactly.
I think they bring back one thats still able to move to prove it. And there will be some scene were its displayed for the major players of the 7 kingdoms to see as proof.

How old does baby-Sam look? 2 yo?

In the scene where the Maester council was deciding how to respond to the wight threat, Sam stated that he let Bran through the wall "years ago". That was after he returned from the North with Gilly and baby-Sam in tow, wasn't it?

Yeah they just haven't really aged that kid up in a way that makes sense given the timeline of the show. Doesn't really matter, but it is inconsistent.

This stuff has been in the books too. The Onion Knight survives the wildfire in the Battle of the Bay, and in the best novel/tv show tradition gets washed out to sea miles and miles, and doesn't drown.

It's suspension of disbelief people.

TV shows don't work without it. Every cop show in history is FULL of ridiculous shit you have to swallow, unless your idea of a great show is watching cops fill in paperwork for 45 of 46 minutes every week.
As I said, I can point out all sorts of these and they do stand out during the shows, however they do not ruin anything for me. I'm more interested in plot development than holes within the execution of it. It's nothing more than fodder for discussion afterward.

BTW, Arya is acting kind of stupid, isn't she? Yes, she's a bad ass assassin now, but you can't behead lords just because they air their opinions during a council meeting. And Sansa handled it pretty well.

I hope we don't get a pointless Stark conflict.

Even you have to admit a little bit of "BSG Syndrome" may be occurring here. Where they have painted themselves into a corner because they have to wrap up a well told and well done show (to this point) in a set number of episodes...

In fact, I guess that really IS what is happening.

But I'll shock you and say, "I'm with you chf..."... I mean really folks, they have to move some of this along and worrying about how someone got from point A to point B is a bit trifling and unimportant.

Except... I'll give you Bronn and Jaimie. That was very "Rick and the Camper" to me... Does Jaime's armor double as a submarine? I mean we were all wondering how he wouldn't drown right where he fell into the water, but they really one-upped us there by not only having him survive it, but swimming under water for half a mile in his armor?!!! C'mon guys!

To be fair we don't KNOW he swam a half mile underwater, as that happened off camera. We just see them SURFACE much further away.

GRRM did this same thing with Davos Seaworth as I posted earlier. He ends up in the water unconscious, after the battle of Breakwater Bay, and the chapter ends.

When his next chapter picks up he's stranded on a tiny atoll miles and miles away. All the knocked-out floaty stuff happens 'off-screen.'

--

At some point don't you just go for the ride with a story? People point out that Sam and Frodo could have just hitched a ride with the giant Eagles to Mount Doom, and dropped the ring in the volcano from 150' up. Sure.... it just wouldn't have made a very good STORY.

With GOT, we're watching a STORY that's supposed to entertain. I agree with Flyer about stuff that goes contrary to the established story line being hard to swallow, but people nit-pick the smallest stuff.

Fair enough. I suspect that they don't 'ruin' the show for people who claim to be much more put-out by them either. Because they keep watching.

Definitely an episode that got the plot moving fast. They are really rushing to end game at this point.

As some have said the whole Bronn pulling fully armored Jaime out of the water after somehow getting washed a mile downstream was goofy as shit. But there was no way to resolve that whole situation that would have made sense so whatever. Like I said last week, one or both of them really just needed to die there.

The whole Gendry thing is just fan service but at least it was cool when he smashed some faces with the hammer.

I read a synopsis of this episode that clearly stated that Jon and Jorah are going to capture a "White Walker". Either the writer of that synopsis doesn't know that wights aren't White Walkers or I seriously misunderstood what Jon's plan was.

I have not really watched religiously, so maybe this is how it has been going. You would just think that there would be enough story happening somewhere in one of the other kingdoms to get some story going instead of Snow leaving and then getting back so fast. I did appreciate the Khaleesi look of "so you are leaving before I get to fuck your brains out", but really could use some middle stories.

The White Walkers have waited thousands of years for this nasty 'Winter to end all Winters'...it has finally started...but the Night King's army needs the Winter weather to get real bad. They are waiting for bone-piercing cold and blizzard conditions extending for hundreds of miles south of the wall. The TV viewers have been waiting seven years for the real nasty weather to arrive.

The army of the dead will be much harder to fight during nasty cold weather.

Remember a couple episodes ago when Sansa said it was going to get much colder, and that the armor smiths need to cover the armor with leather in order to prepare for when the weather gets worse. The undead are in no hurry....the Night King knows the real nasty weather is coming soon to areas extending very far south of the Wall.

The Bronn/Jamie escape maneuver is a tough one.
Must be a strong undercurrent....
Furthermore, how does Tyrion know they both survived, as it was Bronn that Tyrion found to set up the meeting with Jamie.

Cersei and Euron have naval dominance.
Yet, Jon and the gang hop a ship from Dragonstone to Eastwatch.
Granted, other side of the island, but a part of Euron's fleet trashed the Unsullied boats.
Wouldn't they be patrolling that coast?
Ser Davos essentially parks right at Kings Landing and smuggles in Tyrion and gets both Tyrion/Gendry out.

I liked the Sam/Gilly scene. I would imagine someone will protest the claim of Jon's heritage, but will it be Sam or Gilly that speaks up?

Why didn't Ser Davos ask Gendry if he can forge valyrian steel or work with dragonglass?
I thought that was the whole purpose of going to find him.

While it looked like Ser Jorah and Dany were saying their last goodbyes, I would think that Ser Jorah survives, more so that he can ask for forgiveness from young Lady Mormont.

The Dream Team. Jon, Hound, Beric, Thoros, Tormund, Gendry, Jorah.
Can easily see Beric/Thoros sacrificing themselves to allow the others to escape.
Could also see the Hound suffereing wounds and someone driving dragonglass into his heart.
Undead Cleganebowl!

By the way, are Jon and Jorah the only ones with valyrian steel?
Did they bring any dragonglass?
Yes, Gendry being brought on to make weapons makes much more sense than him being the hammer part of the squad. It's like somebody wrote his return and then left and somebody else took over.

I think we're all looking past the main point, how does one capture a wight from the army of the dead? I guess I was always under the impression the night king sees all, I blame the lord of the rings for making me think he's the eye of sauron. do they have offshoots where they can just pick off a roaming wight?

Always thought there was a limiting radius for wights for some reason. We do know the white walkers (or just the Night King) can turn them in and off when they want. Like when they leave the bodies in the spiral patterens.

That would really screw up any plans of bringing a animated wight back with them.

Anyone actually think a even an animated wight will get Cersie's on board? Probably would be more effective tossing the wight into KL and letting the armies and their leaders see it, even have to kill it.

If you haven't noticed, the Night King actor was changed last season due to scheduling conflicts with the original Night King actor Richard Brake. Brake portrayed the Night King in Seasons 4 & 5, and Vladimir Furdik portrayed him in Seasons 6 & 7.

chitxdazhnwx.jpg

Some of you may recognize Richard Brake from Batman Begins...his character killed Bruce Wayne's parents.

What's a funnier name, Furdik, or Dickon?

ANd the pregnancy (if it isnt a lie) of Cersei is troubling for the TELEPORTATION vs "Months of Marching offscreen" debate.

Jamie knocked her up then proceeded to march on highgarten, siege the place, march back, get attacked, and find his way back on foot to Kings Landing.

Cersei (if pregnancy lasts 9 months in Westeros) should be visibly pregnant in that scene if not soon.

And at the very least, if Jamie goes marching on some northern campaign.....the next scene should have the kid being an infant. But, it will only be a barely pregnant Cersei.

I hope we don't get a pointless Stark conflict.

The way the show has gone with Arya since halfway through the Braavos plot it would make more sense for her to be way ahead of Littlefinger here and end up exposing him or just killing him. We've already seen Arya do the following:

Demonstrate insane healing ability
Become one of the top swordsman in Westeros
Become a master assassin, manipulator, and trickster (she flawlessly murdered two Freys, baked them into pies, killed another Frey, disposed of the bodies, and then impersonated all three dead Freys simultaneously for two weeks at the Twins before then assassinating the rest of the Freys at the beginning of the season)

I feel like if she's that OP she should really see this Littlefinger shit coming. Or at the very least Bran should see it coming since I guess he can see all things everywhere and he should already be suspicious of Littlefinger (Chaos is a ladder and all).

Even ignoring all that I don't see how she'd be able to hold a letter that Sansa was forced to write while she was essentially a POW against her.

All that said, I did watch the showrunners on the behind the episode and they seemed to be hinting that Arya was just straight outsmarted by Littlefinger. So yeah, "pointless Stark conflict" is probably coming.

While I'm on the topic of Arya I gotta say I was really disappointed she didn't waste Ed Sheeran and his gang of Lannister soldiers when she met up with them. Seemed like a great way to show how ruthless she had become. Do the scene the exact same way, only you add a shot at the end where she rides away the next morning and there are a bunch of dead bodies behind her.
