I got a friend heading to Vancouver on Saturday to speak at the SIGGRAPH conference and he wonders what to do in Vancouver since he'll get to spend some extra few days there after the conference. He wants to know if there are any fun stuff to do, touristy or not doesn't matter :)

For a view of the Canadian beauty I would say grouse mountain or the trails in N.Van are some places to see that don't include buildings :)

Yeah, one day I'll come visit of course. Graduating in February so after that I'll get a job and get some more money to spend than as a student =)

I'm not sure where he'll stay and whether he'll rent a car or not.

Thanks for the tips. I sent him a link to the thread, so maybe he'll join and reply himself :)

Oh, btw.. don't forget that today (August 4th) is the International IPA Day! Had a Titan IPA (Great Divide) and Modus Hoperandi (SKA Brewing Co.) =)

Granville island is also a great place to hang out for some light shopping for trinkets and such and get a nice lunch under teh bridge.

yah north shore would be a nice day trip that could all be done by public transit ... seabus over to North Shore ... wander around Lonsdale ... bus up to Capilano Suspension bridge, then Cleveland dam, Salmon Hatchery, then up to Grouse mountain

if it were me I would then hop a bus to Mahon Park and catch some cdn little league championship action
