Yeah...it's interesting. Den has this perception of being in the mountains, and it's really an elevated plain fairly flat. The further west you go you can find more rolling terrain. Bear Dance is south of DEN about 30 miles...that's playing golf in the mountains, but still not cliff diving every hole.

We went out to western Colo, Grand Jct...about an hr from the UT border...just beautiful...Redland Mesa, just about every tee box you're teeing off 30-40' above the fairway...Lakota Canyon Ranch was the same way, even more elevation change there, people still walk...fewer people but some walkers.
I don't recommend this but on that course if I popped the cart in neutral from the tee box down the hill that baby was easily flying about 40mph.

I would love to play some rounds out near Utah. The scenery seems amazing and I rarely go to that part of the US.

Oh gosh no...real sad story. One of our builder customers lost his dad LY to a golf cart accident. You know this area...he lived up in Dahlonega at Achasta on the golf course...said his family was up there visiting, drinking and a golf cart ride. They went down a hill, lost control, dad went flying through the front windshield area (wind shield was folded down), didn't make it.

Yeah, even in the DEN area golf is great. When we left the north east I wanted to move there...I have family in Brighton, but wife wanted no more snow and wanted to move back to FL...I didn't like Tampa area much back then and was not excited about moving back...ATL was middle ground. She had a brother here, my parents were in TN, 5 hr drive...it worked out.

Despite my driver not working, I managed to shoot an 81, 39 going out and a 42 coming in. should have been in the 70's for the first time ever but I shit the bed on 18...just needed a bogie and I score a seven.

Good playing...do you think it was the pressure on 18?

I'm facing some pressure right now...earlier in the year, I was in the money every week (it's small stakes bragging money is all)...the last month or so I've been paying out...frustrating, 89, 92, 94, 88 last 4 rounds. Taking my licks...finally got to the short game area to practice yesterday...I've got to get back to the basics with my chipping.

Got a 1:21 t-time...this won't be pretty, I'm still fucking sore from yesterday.

The tees were way back so I tried a little more wrist hinge on my driver and sliced the fucker...i don't think it was the pressure as much as it was stupidity. I tend to try different things at the most inopportune times.

Well, shot a 42 today. Started with three double bogies in a row, sitting at 17 after three. Course was very wet after two days of rain, not a lot of roll and took out some beaver pelts at the start. i was very happy to end up where I did.

Had a late tee time, wanted to get in nine holes, but the tournament didn't end on time and the first tee was stacked like cord wood.

They had everyone going off on 10 because the tournament still had a few holes to play on the front nine...most of the front was wide open. So the wife and I jumped off on 6 and kept circling 6-9 trying different shots, chipping around the greens...it was actually more enjoyable then playing a round.

Finally broke 80, first time ever, 37 going out and 41 coming in. Might have done better but played it safe on 18 to make sure I didn't fuck it up like I did last week.

Made birdies back to back...never did that before either...offset the double bogies that I've done multiple times every round.

Hopefully I've turned a corner on my game.

I have been tinkering with a new grip and a pre-shot routine that a low handicap friend suggested I start doing religiously. I shot 87 at my home course early in the season and haven't touched it since................... until last night.

I have been going crazy because each time I show up to play it is a different facet of the game that destroys my round. My normally reliable driver went to shit for 4 rounds and I scrambled pretty well to keep it in the 90's. 10 days ago I got the driver to go straight and I don't think I've ever felt less comfortable standing over the ball with an iron in my hand. Golf had become like a box of chocolates. Hell, on one round about 5 weeks ago I hit the ball really well, for me and proceeded to need 45 putts to card a 94 :L

Anyway, I was supposed to tee off at 4:30 last night with a youngster (3 handicap) I play a lot of golf with, so I drove up to Canterbury an hour early and hit the range for a large bucket of balls. The goal was to concentrate on a short back swing and tempo. The range session went well, I mean really well.

I ended shooting my lowest score, ever! Finished the front bogey, triple bogey for 41 and started the very short par 5 10th with a terrible drive way out to the right, caught a branch with my second shot and wound up in the trees, got stupid and punched through a bunch of trees with a hooded 5 and it worked! 56 degree wedge to 3 feet, a par putt and I was off and running. Bogeyed the next 2 and then 5 pars in a row. Nice drive on 18, but I pushed a 5 wood into the trap on the right and followed with a great sand shot to 3 feet. I fucking lipped it!!!!!

Aaarrrgggghhhhh! I was this close to breaking 80 for the first time.

I ended up at 80 which is so good for me the GHIN app asked me if I was sure I wanted to post it :pound:

I have a short back swing, when it gets too long, i end up taking beaver pelts out of the turf...way before the ball. If i need to hit the ball a little further, I try to remember to go to a different club instead of trying to kill it...I don't always remember...where's the fun in that.

I'm going to make a half hour (at least) on the range part of my pre-game routine whenever I have the time.

Congrats!!

Damn a triple and still shot 41...you were playing well!!

The beauty of golf is that ONE round when everything works!

Three weeks ago my buddy who has been playing pretty well lately...1st hole, par 5...he starts off with a drive way right heading OB, hits a tree hard and kicks back all the way to the fairway...end up making an easy par, vs a sure dbl or worse.

He had maybe one or two more shots that result in you reaching in your bag for another ball...but, on this day we found his...he shot 77.
