Again, I don't hate the pick, but given who was still on the board, I think we could've done better.

Now, its a matter of seeing what the Heat actually do with this pick - if they will make him part of a deal later, D-League, oversees or he actually gets a shot with the Heat.

A few more thoughts on BAM!!! A lot of critics about the pick because he isn't a guy that will stretch the floor and isn't really the defensive prowess the heat usually covet but I think he has all the tools to improve especially offensively sooner rather than later. Defensively, a lot of other guys have come through this franchise over the years not known for their defense but the Heat culture grows on them and they become better defenders. Plus, the Heat culture MUST grow on you if you want to be apart of this organization.

He may not be the immediate impact player I was hoping we would go after at 14 but I think he will smoothly become a viable option for us eventually.

Chris Bosh officially waived. To the surprise of absolutely no one that knows the Heat, they will retire his number at some point.

In other news, Hayward goes to Boston.I am hoping that this doesn't start another trend of the Heat striking out on the quality FA's again. They must now react and start making moves of their own now - not wait around.

Dion Waiters back with the Heat - its just a matter of making it official at this point.

I think this was the most likely scenario for the Heat. Im thinking, and mostly hoping - after losing out on Hayward, that the return of Waiters didn't come faster because the Heat were trying to work on other potential/upcoming deals before coming to an agreement with Dion. What I am saying is, I hope it meant the Heat were trying to work their cap space to make sure they had what they needed after bringing back Dion to pursue other pieces. This was the most important move for the Heat. JJ will likely be back too, but to me Dion was most important.Lets see if they will now be able to sign another piece or two with whatever they have left.

CB cleared waivers today and now the Heat have that cap space to make some moves - A decision on Ellington also looms. I hope he is retained

Miami making moves. Signed Kelly Olynk and very close to getting rid of McBum

Heat working on a trade to send the much hated Josh McRoberts to Dalls for A.J.Hammons - the Heat giving up yet another pick in a deal , this time a second round pick

The Heat are also on the verge of signing Kelly Olynk - a 4 year deal worth a lot of money... maybe too much?

I think Hammons is just a throw in that probably won't even be a factor for the roster when its said and done - could be wrong.

This may signal the unfortunate end of Ellington with the Heat. Great guy that would have been nice to keep

Misspoke - this will help keep Ellington actually as Ira Winderman noted.

The Heat should have a strong(strength-wise) front court. Building through defense once again for the Heat

James Johnson deal done. Per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Luke Babbitt has been told they are interested in bringing him back - much to the demise of some in here?

Talks of the Olynk move ruling out a Willie Reed return? What say you?

I think its an okay move. I think of the young guys we have from last season and the one before: Richardson, Winslow, MAYBE McGruder and Okaro are worth keeping around - though if we can improve upon McGruder and Okaro that would certainly be helpful. And I sure hope the Heat at least try to improve upon them before settling to keep them.

Yeah Reed is gone for sure. we pretty much have 4 centers on the roster even though Olynk, Bam, and UD can all play PF as well. Hope Reed gets paid though.

I think McGruder is a must. Solid rotation guy. 3+D type of player. Good defense and can knock down 3's every now and then. Okaro is a bit more trickier IMO. His primary position is PF and we already have Olynk and JJ there. Bam and Winslow can also play that position when necessary. I can see Okaro missing out on the roster in favor of a 3rd PG.

I'm fine with Babbitt returning. From what Ira said, we can bring him back for the veterans min. Most importantly, unlike last season he will not be our starting PF. I'm totally fine with having a specialist at the end of our bench. No issue at all with this move but bringing Babbitt back all but ends Okaro White. That would be another PF on this team.

That is correct. He can be brought back at the VM with the Heat going over cap.

Rudy Gay signed virtually at the same time the Heat were making these moves - so I get the sense that they were trying to work something out with him but his asking price may have gotten a bit high

The Heat picked up the option for Wayne Ellington yesterday - as important a move as any other they've made thus far.

Reading a lot of good things about Bam, Okaro among a few others out of Summer League for the Heat.

Yes, its only summer league, but of the guys we have participating that we expect to have on the roster, lots of encouraging signs. Training camp, as usual, should be competitive. Lets let guys battle out for spots there and not just give guys spots. This organization always gets good return from allowing true competition to take place.
