If he ends up acquiring a top 4 defenseman before the start of the season I'll attempt to do back flips (Jack Johnson need not apply).

Do you consider Ryan Murray a top 4 and have you become attached to MoJo yet?

Is Taylor Hall good at coming in on the same side of the blueline as the puck?

The Mojo special is a drop pass about two feet after crossing the blue line.

..but I'm still gonna miss it :(

I would take Ryan Murray in a heartbeat, I think he can be a top 4. You can have Kovy for him.

I need to dig up that laughing gif.

I wouldn't trade much more than Sonny Milano for Kovy at this point. Shero needs to do the league a solid and tell Kovy to go piss up a rope.

As for Murray, I love the guy and hope he stays on. A season alongside Savard or Carlsson will show him for what he is. He's steady, smooth, doesn't panic and can skate beautifully. He finally had a good season injury-wise and came back too early and got a broken hand for his trouble...

Too many locals have given up on him. I'd (obviously) rather see Johnson go, but Murray is better and on a better contract. Just worth more / can bring a bigger return.

We will regret losing him one day.

Kuzy's a good player but man that's a huge contract. Think the Caps could be in cap trouble soon.

The Caps are in a tough spot and I struggle to see a simple fix. Really question what GMBMs plan was. He's pretty consistently flubbed at every step. He exposed Schmidt, he refuses to buy out Orpik, he didn't proactively move Johansen during the draft with more potential for value on return, and he seems to not understand math. Did he have any sort of plan before the expansion draft? Seems like he didn't.

Caps are going to be in a tough spot for a few seasons, and will lose a few players. They need to start finding their equivalent of the Sheary's, Rust's, Guentzel's, etc... to cheaply plug those holes. But they should still be good, even with the losses. If I were a Caps fan though, I would be praying to ditch Orpik's contract.

Also, based on this offseason, another lockout for GMs to protect themselves from themselves seems inevitable, no? I also noticed that almost every contract these days is loaded up on bonuses to protect against a lockout salary renegotiation...

I think the players are just about done giving up “salary renegotiations” and other bullshit to the owners. Way they see it, the owners are going to lock them out anyway they might as well draw a line and make them crawl to it.

My cousin, die hard Caps fan, just described the situation as a Stanley Cup Hangover without all that "winning the cup" nonsense.
