I'd lay odds Surtain is more important a take for Urban.
A LOT of these kids want to feel all special and stuff.......we have a recruit that wants to be the only slot WR in our class, although we had one committed 3 months before he even visited.
We'll see what happens........but Texas DOES have an in here. Pretty much his entire HS class is going to Texas, and they'll be recruiting him every day. This is why I keep telling you, tOSU isn't a lock for him.
Now if Texas shits the bed this season, all bets are off. But if they win lets say 8-9 games, I think he's in play.
I still don't think Surtain is anything but a pipe dream, regardless of what anyone supposedly said. It would be one of the more shocking turns if Ohio State landed him.
They are going after Cook harder because they know they have a great shot to land him, and I don't think there is that big of a difference talent wise between Cook and Surtain (They are probably interchangeable TBH)
Tyson Campbell (#4 CB in 247 Composite) and now Houston Griffith (#8 CB on 247 composite) are both good chances for Ohio State as well though.
So in the end it doesn't really hurt Texas if Cook goes to Ohio State, it would be great to have him but he's going somewhere out of conference so it doesnt help any of Texas' immediate competitors and i'm sure Texas will be able to pull in talented CBs elsewhere
And it doesn't really hurt Ohio State if he goes to Texas, we miss on a out of state kid who decided to stay home, sucks but as with Texas Ohio State will find another talented CB to plug in.
I don't think Texas gets Green, Cook, and Jamison. That would be a sick haul, but unlikely. I really want Jamison. I think he is the best of the 3 and completely under-rated. I'll take either Green or Cook. Green is athletically on Cook' s level and more physical, but not near as polished. Cook is college ready. Kid is basically a finished product, unbelievable technique for a HS kid
He'd get a shot to play, but likely only as a rotating piece. Even if Sheffield leaves after this year, he wouldn't overtake Shaun Wade, Marcus Williamson, and Amir Riep. They're so frickin loaded at defensive back, it's scary.Cook is my #1 for that reason. He would step on campus and have a shot to play right away even with the talent we have stockpiled at CB the past few years.
Cook, Campbell and Banks would be a stud CB class. I could understand Cook ending up at Texas though, out of state kids are never a sure thing until the letter of intent is faxed in. Im glad we are gaining some ground with Griffith incase that happens.
To answer any Jaiden Woodbey concerns:
Then I look forward to adding Brey Walker to our 2018 class.Long time till signing day.

Shoulda used sarcasm font. There are few I say are a lock in recruiting. That kid maybe one of them, outside of an OU implosion
I don't think it was made official yet, as that page has been removed, but it's a foregone conclusion. It'll probably be up by the end of the day.BOOM.. Matt Jones is a Buckeye. THe link on 247 isn't up yet. I'll post it when it is available. Top prospect in NY. A 4* OG/DT. He probably will play OG or Center for the Buckeyes. That should pretty much put us in 1st place on the recruiting.
Breaking: Buckeyes land pledge from coveted lineman Matt Jones

That's what drove Mack Brown out of town.
