So, I want to move past the draft lottery and start talking about free agency as well as the draft.

Taking a look at impending free agents, there are a handful of guys that we should consider adding:

J.J. Redick. As much as I love the thought of adding a shooter like Redick, I also love the thought of adding a guy with tremendous work ethic who spent countless hours working on his shot. Yeah, he's going to be 33 years old but I just don't care. He's shot .446 from 3 over the last 3 seasons. I think he needs to be their priority free agent. How much could he benefit guys like Stauskas and Simmons?

Shabazz Muhammad. Probably one of the more underrated G/Fs in the league, Muhammad has a PER of 16.1 over the last 3 seasons He's inconsistent as a jump shooter but he was showing some improvement there in the first half of 2016-2017. His biggest issues appear to be defensive effort and passing -- could Brett Brown coach him up to being a less selfish player? The ability is there.

Luc Mbah a Moute. Functioned primarily as a 3-and-D SF with the ability to play the stretch 4 for the Clippers this past season. We could use someone like that. Plus, he's got the personal connection with Embiid.

Obviously, it would be great for them to address the PG position. I suppose part of this depends on what they do in the draft. I'd love to draft Josh Jackson and add Redick in free agency. I think the team would be very close to complete at that point.

FA may very well be dependent on what happens in the draft.

The Sixers should be involved in every max offer (Porter, Hayward), just to drive up the price for other teams.
They need to be involved in as many trades as possible, mostly to pump up the costs for other teams.

At the end of the day, I don't see any max offers going out to FA/RFA, so I would expect them to spend $10-15M on a single FA like a Reddick and maybe use their 2nd rounders to move up and get a late 1st. If Korkmaz comes over, the roster starts to fill up pretty fast.

Agreed that FA will depend on who they land in the draft. Not sure I could see them going Jackson and then signing Muhammad or going Monk and then signing Redick, although the latter would be pretty sweet purely from a "get Simmons as many shooters as possible" perspective.

I don't think Porter will get a max offer but yes, the 76ers should be trying to drive up the asking price. Same with Paul George if he becomes available via trade.

It almost seems like the 76ers don't want Korkmaz coming over this season. I'd be ok with it. He's looked good and I want him to grow with the rest of this team.

It might be nice to have someone like Reddick mentor the other would-be shooters on the team like Korkmaz and TLC. Just don't want to see us cripple ourselves financially with a max contract to a mediocre player. In my mind, no player should be making more than Embiid and/or Simmons when they come off their rookie contracts.

Golden State will most likey pay Curry what Durant is making. He could make a lot more, but they are in the midst of establishing a dynasty, so Curry will probably make the smart decision to play for less and keep the core intact.

For next year, Durant makes $27.7, Klay 17.8, and Green 16.4. Curry will fall in the 25-30 range, I'm guessing.
Let's say he matches Durant at 27.7. That's $89.6M tied up in 4 players. Not much room for Iguodala and/or Livingston. However, they should have plenty of veteran FA that want to go there on the cheap for a chance to win rings. The Sixers need to be thinking about this for the future.

I was even thinking Simmons and possibly Josh Jackson.

I'd love to have Reddick here, but you can't go nuts on what you pay him. I have a feeling that what ends up happening is that they trade back one spot with Pheonix, who from what I'm hearing ... are in love with Josh Jackson. I "personally" would take Jackson at 3, but I'm starting to get the feeling that Philly wants Guard Malik Monk. The thought process on Monk is that Simmons will play the Point Forward, so they don't need a true Point like De'Aaron Fox; Monk can handle a limited/hybrid PG role which is what he would play here. They will also run a lot of plays through Joel Embiid, so they need a Point who can bury the outside J then Embiid kicks the ball out from double teams. Both Embiid and Simmons need a player to develop with who can hit that clutch 3 which Monk is certainly capable of ... plus you simply won't win in today's NBA without good 3 point shooting which Monk gives you off the jump.

The problem I see with Monk is lack of D ... yeah, he would be a great fit on Offense, but he would be a liability on the Defensive end. To me Jackson should be the clear pick at 3, he gives us so much more than Monk would and unless the Suns are willing to give us an unconditional 1st in 2018 ... I would stay at 3 and just take Jackson. Simmons, Embiid and Jackson would be a tremendous 3 going forward.

Let's say we have to overpay Reddick to get him here but it's on a short contract. Are you ok if they give Reddick a 2 year, $50 million deal just to get him to sign? I think one more year and we won't have to worry about having to drastically overpay players to sign here.

I also think BC should contact Portland about Crabbe. That contract wouldn't kill Philly but it could help Portland create some space. He's a really good catch and shoot scorer, and we need that, although I think his contract escalates if he's traded.

I'm narrowing it down to Jackson, Monk, and Fox. I'm mixed on Monk. I originally didn't want him if we only ended up with 1 pick, but I wonder if his defensive shortcomings are overblown. Klay thompson got criticized for poor defense coming out of college and he's become an exceptional defender. Obviously, though, Monk is not as tall and doesn't have the wingspan of Thompson...so not really comparable.

I think Monk may be better at guarding Points than he was at Guarding 2's at Kentucky. The problem I saw with him was being over-matched strength wise in the post. If he guards the 1's strictly at the pro level, he may be able to survive better on that end.

Klay Thompson is actually interesting from a trade perspective. I wonder what it would take for Golden State to trade him?

I wonder the same thing. I doubt he is available. They want to win now...and could probably win several championships with Green/Durant/Thompson/Curry. I think they do whatever they can to keep those 4 together.

Lonzo Ball reportedly showed up to his Lakers' workout out of shape. Is that true? Who knows . . . but the leak could be an indication that L.A. will end up passing on him.

Another rumor was that Jackson already has a commitment from a team, as per PHX sources.

Jackson cancelled his workout with Boston because he knows they are selecting Fultz and didn't want to waste his time. People are reading into it that the Lakers promised him he'll be the pick if he's there at 2. If Jackson thought there were even a chance he'd go first then there's no way imo he would skip that workout regardless of what the Lakers at 2 told him.

Speculation that it's L.A. or Philadelphia. All fascinating. Maybe Philadelphia leaked it to make L.A. take a closer look at Jackson because they really want Ball. It's going to be a heck of a week leading up to this draft.

Are those two connected or are they just being reported around the same time? Because it's possible that: (1) Jackson was promised that he'd be drafted in the Top 3 AND (2) He refused to meet with Boston since he now has a Top 3 promise to possibly his preferred destination.

I've been all over the place but here are my final preferred rankings for the 76ers:

1. Markelle Fultz
2. Dennis Smith, Jr.
3. Josh Jackson
4. Malik Monk
5. Jonathan Isaac
6. Jayson Tatum
7. Frank Ntilikina
8. De'Aaron Fox
9. Lonzo Ball

Since Fultz will almost assuredly be gone, I'm proclaiming myself the official SportsHoopla leader of the Dennis Smith, Jr. bandwagon. He has the ability to do it all offensively and I envision him as the Kyrie Irving to our Ben Simmons. Would anyone be surprised if DSJ becomes a perennial 20 ppg player?
