I hear people saying that he will only give AZ a slight bump in an already strong recruiting system, and that it might not be worth it. I keep thinking that his offense will help the most (like we've talked about), and it's largely ignored by people reporting/talking about it. I can't wait to see it.

Didn't they just get Shaq's son to commit?

That they did; we we're shooting the shit about it on the CBB P12 thread. What do you think about it? You a Cat fan or just follow AZ sports?

ASU, but heard the news and wanted to see what you all thought. So how are you a Cat fan and also a Dodgers fan? :)

Hahaha, we are somewhat of a rare people: the Dodger/UofA fan. I was born and raised in Tucson, but I've always been a huge baseball fan. I picked the Dodgers (my dad was a Dodgers fan from when they moved from Brooklyn) about a decade before the DBacks started, and since they are in the same division, I had to draw a line.

Yeah, some people think O'Neal is a little over-rated, but he's still top 20 so I think he'll contribute well enough. I always wait until they get a jersey on and the season starts, just because shit changes so much in CBB.

AZ should benefit from some free pub with Shaq going to some games, but I think we could use the attention. I don't think Shaq will get in the way. He seems professional and I think he'll let Miller do what he needs to do with the team.

I'm hoping he stays a couple years.

Romar and Arizona recruiting marriage means beating the Wildcats got a lot harder

Still more on Romar recruiting than anything else. I watched his press conference and he said that Miller didn't even focus much on recruiting when he told Romar that he wanted him in Tucson, or when the two got into Romar's role, etc.

It's crazy to me that this is all people can focus on. The bump in recruiting isn't going to be a great as his potential for our offense.

Chase Jeter coming to Tucson. I assume this has no influence on Brian Bowen or Cam Johnson seeing as how Jeter must sit out a year.

Agreed. It'll impact next year's recruiting depending on how he practices this year. I hope he works out. Tons of talent but he'll still be competing against the best in Tucson. Good news is that he should be competing against only them (if we get one of them and they stay), incoming freshmen, and maybe a transfer, as a fourth-year junior. He's got plenty of time to work on his body and game.

Arizona likely battling MSU for preseason #1 next season with Akot reclassifying.

I hope it finishes like that too! But seriously, I wonder who will score more next year, Trier or Ayton. Trier averaged over 17 last season and I think he could be really mature next year. And Ayton might be a monster, like an aggressive Markkanen. Imagine if both those guys could average 17+, or 19+?

I think Trier will be our leading scorer with Ayton as a second leading scorer. I don't think we've ever had two players average over 17 a game in a single season in the Sean Miller era. His offensive schemes would never allow it. Perhaps with Romar's offensive mind it could be possible.

I agree. I think that Miller started to get that going and harness it this past season with Markannen and Trier finally playing together. I can see him letting Trier and Ayton take the outside and inside. But Romar might help that too. Just two very capable players.

Home and home with Alabama finalized. Could be our best non-conference opponent when all is said and done.

Could be, and I wouldn't mind if they become a top 20 team or so, but I hope we have at least a couple games against ranked opponents. The field for the Battle for Atlantis looks pretty promising, but I think your point still stands that going in, it's not like we have OCC games that we can point to and automatically circle.

Although we don't have a very top-heavy OCC, or any really marquee games going in, at least we don't play a bunch of really shitty teams either. Our non-con SOS shouldn't be bad at all.

Fuck. Yeah.

I'm glad the statue is of him without the NC hat he had on in the pic they took the pose from.

Nobody fucks with the Silver Fox.
