Never got to see him live but absolutely loved all of his work. My favorite solo effort below.

honestly, if you have 50 minutes, listen to that whole Unplugged in Sweden thing he did.
One voice, one guitar. just amazing.

I know Maron can be a handful at times but he really did get the hang of long form interviews. The Cornell episode was a good one, love the story about his brother turning the amp up. Funny stuff.

Hendrix, Cobain, Staley, Cornell... Somebody put Eddie Vedder in a safe room in some bubble wrap!

I was never that into Soundgarden, but he was the best pure vocalist of the grunge era. I would sing along with Nirvana or Pearljam, but I would just listen to Chris Cornell. Such a focused voice with so much power.

Fun fact. Chris started as Soundgarden's drummer

I sing the chorus of this song (often including a poor attempt at his background vocals) probably about twice a week on average, usually at work at about 11:30 am or 3:30 pm.

Such a bummer. Guy was still in phenomenal shape, voice sounded as good as ever, he just did that Temple of the Dog tour recently as well as his current tour. When you heard him interviewed he seemed like he got it, he was pretty grounded and normal. It's not the same as when someone like Scott Weiland goes where nobody is shocked, that guy had some serious miles on him. But Cornell is pretty shocking, sucks.

It has to be brutal for his band mates (Temple of the Dog/Soundgarden). You know all of them are thinking, what could I have done or said? What did we miss, etc. Just awful all around.

Unfortunately, the answer is usually nothing. A lot of people, especially ones who are supposed to be "winning" at life hide their struggle.

It's so frustrating to me that mental health care in this country is so lacking. And even it was more readily available we always throw such a stigma on it. It's unconscionable.

Have my tickets to Rock On The Range tonight and was super stoked because two bands I didn't expect to ever tour again were on right after one another. Live then Soundgarden.

Not sure I even feel like going at all now.

Very true. It's like if you break your arm you put a cast on it. You need to treat it. Why is mental health treated differently?

If I could make it there in time, I'd take the tickets off your hands. I'd love to see Gojira (haven't yet) and Chevelle (again).

Saw Soundgarden in Montreal in 1990 on their Louder than Love tour. Great show and pretty much got me fully hooked on the whole grunge thing.

RIP Chris. I hope the grass is indeed greener.

I posted this in the other thread. My fav live Soundgarden. Meandering jamming with the crowd going nuts. Vocals are amazing for a live performance!
