I think you have to go Nolan. If not for injuries he's the guy, no question. I would hope he's past his injuries. Also, in terms of value, it's difficult to quantify how valuable it is to have a guy that can play in every situation. I think Nolan Patrick fits that bill way better than Nico.

When I think of Nolan, I keep hearing he's the guy. When I read about him, yes the injuries come up(maybe too much emphasis?) but how strong his whole game is, like a total package type.

But is Nolan a scorer or no? Will he put up the goals to make a difference? Set up the plays to win the games? etc...

I haven't really found a good read, and i read some, about his offense. He depicted, IMO, like a safe bet, overall player with admirable lockerroom leadership

i think nolan is the more rounded player and hes a guy that can play in any situation. nicos ceiling is higher but nolan outside the injuries is more of a guaranteed your getting this and this from him guy. tough you want the sure thing with the #1 pick though thats for sure.

i looked back quickly and going back to i believe 00 only 2 #1 picks have really truly busted. yakapov and stefan. others might not have lived up to the hype of the #1 pick but still had legit nhl careers so we should* be getting a quality player

thats my exact thinking too. even with missing all these games to injury the best that nico could do is make it a 50/50 decision. does that mean patrick was that far ahead of him to begin with?

Still want Nico but confident the Devils scouting staff will make the right pick.

Honestly, if Nico was not Swiss and born in lets say Canada, I bet you that would eliminate the 50/50 question mark on him. I do believe that his nationality is what is preventing him from being the consensus number 1 pick.

Damn.... what's going to separate these two? It sounds like Nico has the higher ceiling. What does that translate into?

who's his NHL comparison again?

you are 100% right. its horrible thinking but its still in peoples minds. obviously there has to be a first for every country but man i dont want to be the ones risking it with the #1 pick to have the greatest player to come out of swiss.

reading that cranston story makes me believe they take nico though so go figure

My thoughts as well when I read that article. But who knows what Castron is really thinking.

Calamity, haven't seen much in comparison for Nico but did read somewhere about being similar to Pavel Bure. Not too bad if we get a Bure lol.

See when i read about Nico, its so much more flashier and exciting on the offensive end. Throw in a nod to defense with being willing to be a better 2 way player etc...

I dont read that same excitement with Nolan. Yet Nolan is still regarded as a top prospect for everything else.

Who fits better with Hall?

Either should fit with Hall. You put them on one line, not like you can double team or pay attention to both players easily. Give Hall more room and we know what he can do.

One's got to be more compatible than the other right? Some reads suggest Nico can go C or W.... I think Nolan is just C.

I need someone who freakin handle Hall's passes or create for himself as well.

Look at Edmonton, Toronto are prime examples.... yes they are both eliminated but the offensive skill there is undeniable.... New Jersey needs to give Hall more players to help improve the offense.

Now a true C like Nolan is almost like your QB.... so you can't necessarily pass him up with his strength n size....

but skillset, it sounds like Nico is above Nolan... until I find a read on Nolan thus changing my mind....

Is anyone swayed one way or another by their build? Nolan Patrick is 6'3, Nico is 6'0, anybody care? Is it irrelevant? Personally, I go with the big bodied center.
